Jabir ibn Abdillah reported that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “Every nation has an enlightened one and the enlightened one of this nation is Salman.” So they said to him: “O Messenger of God. what is meant by an enlightened one?” Then he said: “He tells us about what is hidden from the people. Of that which they need.” One said to him: “How so, O Messenger of God?” He said: “Because he is knowledgeable about my knowledge of me, what is in his heart. Of the knowledge of what was and what will be.”

Mas’adah Ibn Sadaqah reported that Imam As-Sadiq (as) said: “One day, the caution (Taqiyyah) was mentioned to Ali Zain-ul-Abidin (as), whereupon he said: “By God, if Abu Dharr had known what Salman carries in his heart, he would have killed him and the Prophet Muhammad (saw) brothered them together. So what do you expect from the other creatures? The knowledge of the knowledgeable is difficult to comprehend. No one can bear it except a sent prophet or a close angel or a faithful servant whose heart is tested by God for faith. Salman became one of these knowledgeable ones, for he is a man who belongs to us the people of the house. Therefore, i have counted him among the knowledgeable.”

From Abu Basir from Abu Ja`far(as) . He said:
Al-Muhajirin and al-Ansar, and others after that, came to Ali(as) . So they said to him: You, by Allah, are Amir al-Muminin and you, by Allah, are the most rightful of the people and the closest to the Prophet(saw). Give us your hand that we might pledge allegiance to you, for by Allah we will certainly die in front of you. So Ali(as) said: If you are truthful, then come to me in the morning with shaven (heads). And none but these three(Abu Dhar, Salman and Miqdad) shaved.

Isa Ibn Hamzah reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (as) : “What of the tradition about the four?” He said: “Which one is it?” I said: “The four for whom the Paradise has longed for.” He said: “Yes, to them belongs Salman, Abu Dharr, Al-Miqdad and Ammar.” I said: “Who is the best of them?” He said: “Salman.” Then he kept silent for a while, saying: “Salman acquired such knowledge that Abu Dharr would have disbelieved if he had known.”

From Yaqoob bin Shuaib from Abi Abdullah (as) that he said:
“Between Isa (as) and Muhammad (saw) there was a gap of five hundred years out of which for two hundred and fifty years there was neither a prophet nor any learned one from Allah who was apparent. I (the narrator) asked: What did the people follow? The Imam replied: They followed the religion of Isa (as) . I asked: What was their actual condition? He replied: They were believers. Then he said: The earth never remains devoid of a learned one.” Among those who roamed in the lands in search of divine proof was Salman Farsi (as). He continued to move from one learned to another and moved from one jurisprudent to another and remained in the pursuit of divine secrets. He gained guidance through narrations. He awaited for the Qaim, the Qaim and the chief of the formers and the latters, Muhammad (saw) for four hundred years till he received the glad tidings of his birth. When he became certain of deliverance he set out for Tahama and he was taken a captive there.
