Nawasib, who are they and what are the rulings concerning them

Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Kufi from al-‘ Abbas ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mu’ammar from Khalid al-Qalanisi who has said the following: Once I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (as) What should I do if I meet a tax paying non-Muslim and he shakes my hand?’ The Imam said, ‘Wipe it with soil or against a wall.’ I asked, ‘What about a nasibi? The Imam said: Wash it (your hand).”’

๐Ÿ“šAl Kafi Shareef V2,P360

Ahmad ibn Idris has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ayyub ibn Nuh from al-Washsha’ from those whom he has mentioned who have said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, did not like the leftover of a person born out of wedlock, Jews, Christians and pagans and whoever opposed Islam
and most serious to him was the leftover of a Nasibi.

Sheikh Yusuf Al Bahraini (ra) writes:

Where is the difference between disbelief in God and His messengers (s.) and disbelief in the Imams (a.), although it has been proven with certainty by the verses of the Qur’an and clear reports that the office of the Imam is one of the principles of faith (Usul-ud-Din)?”

๐Ÿ“šAl-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah V18, P153

We have already clarified the disbelief of the opponents (Mukhalif) who are not among those who are considered weak and that they are enemies (nawasib) and idolaters according to the numerous reports, which are obvious without any disagreement and that they cannot be called Muslims unless one would also call the departed ones (khawarij) and their like-minded ones, who attribute themselves to Islam, that way.”

๐Ÿ“šAl-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah V18 ,P148

It has already been narrated in our reports that those considered weak from among the opponents (Mukhalif) are among those, for whom one can hope that they will enter paradise, even if the verses of the Qur’an obviously prove that they are among those whose affairs are left to God, but according to the outward appearance of a lot of tradition, the end of their affairs will be in paradise.”

๐Ÿ“šAl-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah V1, P86

Those who are considered as weak are those who form the majority of the people to this day, as can be seen from the reports, and as we have already mentioned, this refers to those who neither recognize nor oppose.”

๐Ÿ“šAl-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah V10, P446

Sulaim Ibn Qais reported that he asked Imam Ali (a.): “O Commander of the Believers, have you seen him who stopped and did not emulate you and did not take you as enemies and did not set up (Nasib) enmity towards you and was not a fanatic and did not come into your proximity (Wilayah) and did not distance himself (Bara’ah) from your enemies and said: “I do not know.” While he was sincere?” He said: “These do not belong to the 73 groups. By the 73 groups, the Messenger (s.) meant only the rebellious and the ones who set up (Nasib) enmity, who publicly displayed themselves and called for their religion. One group of them follows the religion of the Most Merciful and the other 72 follow the religion of Satan and are close to the one who accepted them and renounce the one who opposed them.”

๐Ÿ“šKitab Sulaim, P170

Ishaq Ibn Ammar reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The property of the enemy (Nasibi) and all his possessions are allowed to you, except his wife, because the union (Nikah) of the associates (Mushrik) is valid and for this reason the messenger of God (s.) said: “Do not revile the associates (Mushrik), because all people have an union (Nikah)”. If I were not afraid that a man of yours might be killed by a man of them, one of you being better than thousands of their men, I would order you to kill them, but this is the matter of the Imam.”

๐Ÿ“šAl-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah V18 P155 – 156

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said:“O Abu Muhammad, it seems to me as if I see the Riser (Qa’im) in the prayer house of Sahlah staying with his people and relatives.” I said: “Is it his abode, my life be sacrificed to you? He said: “Yes, there was also the abode of Enoch and Abraham, the confidant of the Most Merciful (a.) and God sent no prophet except that he prayed there in. In it was the abode of Al-Khidr, and he who dwells therein is like him who dwells in the tent of the Messenger, and there is neither a believing man nor a believing woman, except that their hearts longs for it. I said: “My life be sacrificed to you, does the Riser (Qa’im) always dwell therein? He said: “Yes.” I said: “But who after him?” He said: “It is the same after him until the end of the creation.” I said: “What happens to those who are under his protection? He said: “He makes peace with them just as the Messenger made peace with them, and they pay the tribute (Jizyah) in a meek manner. I said: “Even if one is a shower (Nasib) of animosity towards you? He said: “No, O Abu Muhammad! the one who departed from us has no part in turning (Dawlah) in favour to us. God allowed us to shed their blood with Rising of our Rising one (Qa’im), but today this is forbidden (haram) to both to us and you, so do not be decieved by anyone. When our Rising one (Qa’im) rises up, he avenges for God and His Messenger (s.) and for all of us.”
